Mornin! This is Sean McNulty and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on THURSDAY September 22, 2022.
Where this is just a super smart brand extension - EA’s “FIFA 2023” soccer football video game this year (out next Fri) includes an AFC RICHMOND club with all the “Ted Lasso” players. No word on how much “fruity language” will be included.
Also here’s a trailer (the game also includes Coach Beard & Ted himself who… kinda looks like Taran Killam in it no?)
FALL PREMIERE WEEK Day 2:
CBS - “FBI”: 6.8 Million was a hair under last year’s premiere, and the… other 2 “FBI” shows hit around 5.5 Million, around the season average for the shows last year too.
FOX - “The Resident”: 2.7 Million (-10% from last year) and… “Monarch” lost well over 50% of its audience from its Sunday night preview debut, notching 1.7 Million.
NBC - “The Voice”: 6.1 Million, about the same as Monday, and “New Amsterdam” got 3.2 Million, roughly on par with last year’s average.
ABC - “The Bachelor” finale had 3.5 Million, a little below Summer’s finale last year.
So, thankfully a relatively even return for Tuesday night - funny what happens when you don’t go up against a NFL game isn’t it?
STILL: Zero NIELSEN numbers for AMAZON’s “Thursday Night Football”. It’s now time for next Thursday’s game.
My only guess is that this is some very lame ploy made to agree to drop the news today as a tactic to “boost awareness” for tonight’s game… or - something is really wrong here for two companies who made a big deal about announcing this 2 months ago. Either way yeah this is weird.

AND: As it’s the First day of Autumn, what better time than to gift a subscription for this newsletter to someone?
