☀️Fall TV Breakdown: How Much Scripted Is Left Post-Strikes
NETFLIX gets Christmas NFL / APPLE makes early Cannes market buy / Brooke Shields rules NETFLIX
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on WEDNESDAY, May 15, 2024.
Where as rumored — Christmas has come early for NETFLIX 🎁. Or I suppose really for the NFL, as it’s getting the big streaming check . . . which was not disclosed (yet).
But yes, NETFLIX will stream the 2 Christmas Day NFL games this year — globally (it falls on a Wednesday this year, btw).
The games will also air on linear TV locally in the markets of whichever teams are playing, as per league rules (the full schedule drops tonight), and stream on the NFL+ mobile service.
No word if NIELSEN will be involved here, as it is on AMAZON Thursday Night Football. In 2025 and 2026, NETFLIX will get 1 of the 2 Christmas games, making for a fun John Henry-esque streaming vs. linear TV audience war — with I’m guessing likely with far less fan griping than the PEACOCK game this year.

ALSO: The GIANTS will be featured on a new edition HBO’s Hard Knocks starting July 2, looking at the team’s off-season this year . . . so get ready for a lot of golf. And this 🤌.
THEN: NETFLIX is really doubling down on Christmas this year . . . by also taking this Millennial Christmas thing a bit far — we now have a Chad Michael Murray / Britt Robertson rom-com called The Merry Gentlemen coming this year, involving yes, a big city woman having to revert to the indignity of living in a small town.
SO: Now we have holiday pics from Lindsay Lohan, Christina Milian, Lacey Chabert and this Murray/Robertson combo all coming this holiday season.
Who’d a thought Dan Lin would come in . . . and quadruple down on this Millennial Christmas phenomenon 🤔?
AND: Sorry GenX’ers — maybe you wanna step in here, AMAZON?
OH: AMC THEATERS stock is -25% thus far today. Good thing the company issued uh, 72M more shares on Monday at the inflated price — they know how this works 😉.
