☀️CREED III crushes tracking for MGM, as ANT-MAN fast descent continues
SONY sets wedding comedy with DeBose, Seyfried & more / New NETFLIX APAC growth #s / Final 2022 Cord Cutting numbers
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on MONDAY March 6, 2023.
Where #funfact - I… also looked like this at 42-years-old. Then I started writing a newsletter. Stick with the pictures Jake.

This was basically your first peak at the new Dalton in Doug Liman’s Road House, shot this past Saturday night at the UFC event. I like the odds for MGM’s continued success at the Box Office.
MEANWHILE: NFL star Travis Kelce actually managed to keep his shirt on this weekend at SNL, and made for one of the show’s best this season. I’m closing out today with a few other fun things at the bottom of the newsletter… but “Straight Male Friend” was great too.
SNL alum Chris Rock also came to play Saturday night on NETFLIX, in case there was any doubt to the contrary going in, with the NY Times giving a bit more context to the set here.
ALSO: Here are your INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARD winners. Pretty sure you can guess who won.
THEN: Here are your WGA Award winners, with Everything Everywhere and Women Talking taking the top film awards, and Severance, The Bear and White Lotus taking top TV awards. Still no newsletter writing category.
And ACE Editing Award winners, with Top Gun and Everything Everywhere taking top honors.
And ASC Cinematography Award winners, with Elvis taking the pic award, and The Bear and Barry taking TV awards.
AND: A rest in peace goes out to Tom Sizemore, who died on Friday at 61-years-old of complications from a stroke.
OH: A24 bought a theater! But like… the Off-Broadway kind - the CHERRY LANE THEATER in NYC, for about $10 Million.
PLUS: Hoda & Savannah are both back on Today uh, today - Savannah returning from her 3rd bout with Covid, and Hoda was out taking care of her daughter who was in the ICU for an undisclosed illness.
SALE! META Quest Pro headsets are now just $1000 instead of $1500. Well that should do it.
IN TODAY’S EDITION:
The Box Office breakdown, as 18-34’s show up strong for Creed, Cocaine and Jesus hang strong, and Ant-Man continues to trend with its B Cinemascore.
SONY sets a wedding comedy with a fun female quartet cast.
A look at NETFLIX’s projected APAC growth in 2023.
Final Cord-cutting and Broadband numbers for 2022.
IDPR execs form a new shingle, and more.
PLUS: Tracking had its first major miss of 2023 with Creed III - never deny the power of a film that also has amazing trailer in the mix.
Kudos to the Wakeup Box Office crew - 47% picked over $39 Million. Although there was a large “under $38 Million” contingent at 34%.
FLYING: 👈 This will be me 🙋♂️ today out to LA for the NXStream conference on Wednesday at UTA. So. 🤞 the DELTA wifi works. Otherwise tomorrow’s newsletter may be slightly delayed.
