☀️ CAA responds to Ormond, 'Ted Lasso' co-star gets new series
NEON gets Sweeney Pic / NETFLIX nearly sets new 2023 Films record / PEACOCK U.K. RIP
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on WEDNESDAY Dec. 20, 2023.
Where let’s start our morning with Flacco the owl - although we may not have much of a choice.
Flacco escaped the CENTRAL PARK ZOO back in February, and has been haunting delighting New Yorkers since - often sitting on windowsills outside of NYC apartments for hours at a time, and just… uh, watching. This was a fun read in the WSJ today.
PLUS: VR headset sales are down over -40% this year. It’s almost like, most Americans don’t want these… but that just can’t be true! We’ve simply written too much about them for that to be the case 🫣.
AND: CAA & DISNEY both filed motions explaining they’re not culpable in Julia Ormond’s lawsuit around an alleged Harvey Weinstein assault in 1995. Essentially saying ‘we didn’t know about his behavior at the time’; their specific arguments are in the link.
THR also has more specifics on CAA’s assertions here.
IN THIS EDITION

Latest TV Sports ratings beg the question - why does the NFL NETWORK still get their own 🏈 games each year?
The Fall calendar gets another theatrical release, as a NETFLIX film comes very close to setting a viewership record for 2023, and more.
