Where I’m often of the mindset that sports games should be finished out, no matter how lopsided the game might be.
But having to watch the PATS vs. JETS game today (it was the only game on TV in NYC at 1 p.m. while I wrote the column), I think just calling this one after the 3rd quarter at 42-3 (it wasn’t even that close) and switching over to another game would have been justified. Yikes.
Then again, the GIANTS won the one game of the year they really needed to lose 🤦♂️ . . . so maybe the JETS are onto something.
Hopefully, your Christmas break was far more joyful.
THEN: As part of the RINGER/NETFLIX podcast deal, The Bill Simmons Podcast will go live weekly on NETFLIX in the U.S. at 11:30 p.m. on Sundays starting Jan. 11. It previously live-streamed globally on YOUTUBE at that time.
The video pod will then be avail on NETFLIX and SPOTIFY, and audio avail everywhere else.
THUS: NETFLIX will have live TV programming on Sunday, Monday (RAW), Tuesday & Wednesday (Star Search) every week as of mid-January, plus their new mobile daily game show.
AND: I caught Network again on TCM this weekend — and I’m making my PSA that this movie, released when I was born, needs to be required viewing for any twentysomething who wants to work in this business in the 2020s.
The fact that the crux of this movie comes down to Saudi / “petrodollar” money being involved in a U.S. media deal is just 🤌.
Spend the $4 to rent it wherever ya like online this week (sadly, it’s not on HBO MAX). One of Sidney Lumet’s best.
