Late 2023 Theatrical sched shuffling / DIS Streaming gets new head / SHO cancels another series as shifts continue
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on THURSDAY April 6, 2023.
Where as of Monday, baseball games this season are averaging a full 25 minutes shorter than they were last year since MLB instituted the new pitching clock (pitchers essentially now only have 15 to 20 seconds to throw their next pitch).
In fact a MINNESOTA vs. MIAMI game this week came in under 2 hours according to The Athletic (games previously often drifted close to, or over the 3-hour mark).
Still to be seen how this affects TV ratings, but Awards shows - maybe something to learn here. I mean they’ve had a clock on speeches for years (thankfully you don’t lose your award for going over it), but maybe it’s time to thematically apply it to other parts of the shows?
