Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LINKEDIN here if ya like or email me at seanmcnultynyc@gmail.com), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on Friday, June 6, 2025.

Where it’s funny how $200M just doesn’t get you what it used to. Inflation, amirite? Let me know who had “3.5 months” in the office pool.

Plus, who knew that Elon’s black eye would be quite the foreshadowing for the week — but uh, he still gets to keep the key, right?

BUT: You know it’s bad when the kids get upset.

HOWEVER: I’m gonna guess Elon will not be joining Trump tomorrow night at UFC 316 in Newark (he’s flying into Teterboro instead of EWR, yes?) . . . although gotta say that would make for quite a publicity-generating peace brokering moment for a certain player in the mix here at parent company TKO.

KEEP IN MIND: A remembrance that today is the 81st anniversary of D-Day. There were approximately 66,100 WWII vets alive in the U.S. as of last year, according to the VA . . . so maybe we work this into our conversations as well somewhere today.

THEN: Kudos to the THUNDER & PACERS for putting on a very entertaining, down-to-the-wire NBA Finals game 1 last night. So much for a THUNDER series blowout! Game 2 Sunday night is up next.

OH: Rob & Ryan’s WREXHAM AFC is considering selling a stake in the club, at a $475M valuation.

  • The guys bought the club 4 years ago for $2.5M.

PLUS: Shari Redstone was diagnosed with thyroid cancer this spring and underwent surgery to treat it last month. Her prognosis is excellent, according to her spokesperson.

THANKS!: To the folks at BRITBOX for the invite to check out the premiere of the new Outrageous series last night in NYC — really enjoyed it! Well done, and a slice of pre-WWII British history that, I gotta say, I’m not too familiar with. It premieres June 18.

WAKEUP POLL RESULTS

I’ll take the over on Ballerina, along with the slim majority of y’all.

NEW ANKLER PODCAST EPISODE

FINALLY: Just giving some weekend viewing reco love to a show I’m gonna miss, HBO’s Somebody Somewhere. I finally A) watched this series I’ve been meaning to for uh, 3 years now, and B) said goodbye to its last episode this week.

Definitely a show that you can see the phrase “a gem” being used in a critics promo spot . . . but really — it’s just a series about real everyday working class people, not living in some bougie coastal city (it’s set in Kansas), dealing with real-life stuff (aging parents, sister relationships, self-doubt, finding friendship in unexpected places etc.) in very real and funny ways . . . that frankly TV doesn’t make too much of anymore. Link here 👇.

Plus, the three 7-episode seasons with 30-minute episodes make for a great show that’s easy to sit down with as ya like. I have to ask Katey Rich about the Emmys outlook, but the performances were top notch in my book, and I hope the cast gets other opportunities soon.

I hope so! Via Giphy
