Mornin! This is Sean McNulty and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on THURSDAY September 8, 2022.
Happy DISNEY+ NFL TIFF Day! And if you can think of a name for a streaming service that would incorporate all 3… well, you have a future in this business kid.
Heck even AMC THEATERS is getting in on the DISNEY+ DAY action… for some reason. In sorta discounting news - Starting today through Sept 19, you can go watch an old DISNEY movie at an AMC Theaters location for $5 (“Newsies” still needs to amortize costs apparently).
I mean who knows - a
shotglass size of soda and a popcorn is also $5, and hey maybe they’re shooting the new Nicole Kidman Ad there that day!
AND: The Great Q3 Streaming Discount sale continues! I swear we didn’t plan this… as DISNEY+ is now $2 a month through Sept 19, although Variety didn’t care to specify how many months that rate is for.
PLUS: Here are your APPLE products updates from yesterday, namely:
Now has an $800 version with longer battery & greater “durability”, plus bells and whistles targeted at endurance sports enthusiasts.
The $400 Series 8 can now also track body temp changes, potentially even those related to ovulation.
The SE base watch is now $30 cheaper at $250
An improved “pro” version for $250
The 14 is now at $800 with a somewhat improved camera sensor for better low light pickup etc, and Pro versions at $1,000 and $1,100.
Both the iPhone and the High end watch incorporate the ability to be found/do emergency communication via Satellites instead of Mobile phone signal for the first time. /NY Times

📽 THE SILVER SCREEN
It’s an indie financed by AGC STUDIOS, called “The Dating Game” and was a Black List script.
Based on a true story of a “Dating Game” contestant in the 70’s who picked a guy who… turned out to be a psychopathic serial killer. /THR
