☀️ VICE sets new CEOs, DeSantis swipes DISNEY governing status
NIELSEN Super Bowl audience undercount? / Fraser changes agencies / Next NETFLIX Shondaland series sets cast
Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect with me on LinkedIn here if ya like), and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on TUESDAY February 28, 2023.
Where your snow was cute LA. Nice try though.
AND: As awards season winds down, just sharing this week’s dose of life perspective - another terrific 60 Minutes piece this weekend, this time on a school for girls in AFGHANISTAN that had to find a way to relocate to RWANDA when the US withdrew from Kabul in 2021.
An extremely touching and important story, and reminder that many women in our world here in 2023 still need to fight for the basic right of getting an education.
PLUS: A congrats to Keke Palmer, who gave birth to a baby boy Leo yesterday.
THEN: NETFLIX is adding a ‘pre-show’ and ‘post-show’ to their Chris Rock Live event on Saturday at 10p.
Ronny Chieng will host the ‘pre’ at 930p from the COMEDY STORE in LA
David Spade & Dana Carvey will host the ‘post’ from the COMEDY STORE after the show, all with special guests.
Both will only be available to watch live on Saturday night (the special itself will of course exist on the service after that).
Would be kinda cool if they made the pre & post shows avail for free on the NETFLIX YT channel too as free promo for the ‘Pay TV’ event no? Maybe that’s just me.
OH🙋♂️: NIELSEN may have under-counted the SUPER BOWL audience by 23 Million. The NFL and NIELSEN did a separate survey of about 5200 households and concluded that the average viewership was 136 Million, not 113 Million according to the Sports Business Journal.
KEEPING A THOUGHT: Going out to Tom Sizemore, who does not seem to be recovering from his stroke and is entering end of life care.
IN TODAY’S EDITION:
This is gonna be a quick one as seemingly LA was busy polishing their awards yesterday #notaeuphemism. But hey a light day is fun sometimes? Ok fine yeah that’s all I got.
But at least ENDEAVOR and AMC THEATERS will ensure that’s not the case tomorrow.
AND GOOD NEWS! $5 for a 6-pack of microwaveable AMC THEATERS Popcorn will finally hit shelves OSCAR weekend at WALMART to save the movie theater business. How much you decide to charge your family for a bowl is up to you.
