Mornin! This is Sean McNulty (connect here on LINKED-IN if ya like) and here’s the Hollywood + Media news to know on FRIDAY, September 6, 2024.

Where você está pronto para um pouco de futebol?! Just trying to help out the NBC folks with their Portugeuse translations (and yes, I know “Are you ready for some football?!” is MNF’s football catchphrase — sadly Cris Collinsworth has yet to come up with one for NBC 🙄).

But yes, PEACOCK gets its next big moment in the spotlight tonight with the EAGLES vs. PACKERS game at 8:15 p.m., and we’ll see how a regular season game (albeit a high-profile one . . . but on a Friday night) does against the 23M number from the January playoff game. (Note: That 23M included local market TV viewing audiences.)

Either way — let’s hope tonight’s game doesn’t come down to this in the end zone 👇 on the last play, as it did last night . . . which, okay, yes, his toe is out, but anyone else feel like this really kinda takes the fun out of the game? FWIW, the refs initially called it a game-tying touchdown, although kudos to the NBC camera crew team for both the plethora and accuracy of the angles provided on this. #ProLevel

OH RIGHT: Yes, Taylor was there as well, cheering on Travis and his new mustache look.

ALSO: It’s time for the broadcasting rookies to show their stuff this weekend — Tom Brady debuts in the booth on FOX Sunday, and Jason Kelce and Bill Belichick will debut on ESPN properties on Monday. Drew Brees sends his best.

  • And, kudos to Belichick for ESPN making him joining Instagram.

BUT: How about the difference a player can make? Caitlin definitely earned her . . . $76k WNBA salary this year, no?

  • BTW: The final Clark-Reese matchup of the regular season got 1.6M viewers on ION Friday night — the largest ION WNBA audience ever, and about the size of an average NBA regular season game on TNT/ESPN (INDIANA won by 19 points).

    • ESPN/ABC would 🙏 for a rematch in the playoffs I’m sure . . . but Reese’s SKY being 11-22 this season is likely going to get in the way there (Clark’s FEVER already qualified for the playoffs).

    • SCRIPPS’ ION averaged 639k viewers for its Friday night WNBA games this year, +123% from last year according to Sport Media Watch.

AND: Salma Hayek Pinault and CAA majority owner François-Henri Pinault will appear together on CBS Mornings on Tuesday — she has a new pic at TIFF directed by Angelina Jolie, he will talk about . . . coffee machines and luxury bags? 🤷‍♂️ Not sure how much appetite for CAA talk there is in . . . well, anywhere but L.A.

WAKEUP POLL RESULTS

Okay, Beetlejuice, let’s see if you can live up to the hype! Kinda running the gamut on this one . . . put me in with the 26% — sure, returning NFL competition is tough, but you know I’m a sucker for theatrical movie magic continuing.

I mean, WB certainly pulled out all of the stops on the marketing, partnering with 35 brands on the campaign (plus a robust TIKTOK presence).

I think this means Austin’s a fan of this project, but never can quite tell with that guy. Via Giphy
